Pink Saturday!
Happy PINK Saturday everyone!
While I was on vacation last week, I did a little antiquing. Normally I only do a little window shopping because the prices in most antique stores are not in my budget. Last week however; I scored several bargains! First, my girls and I were killing a little time so we went to one of those really big antique malls. You know, the kind that is in a former grocery store with lots of booths operated by different vendors. This place was so big we were there for an hour and a half and I only made it through 2 isles. I really wish I had taken my camera because at the front of the store were rows and rows of six foot tall glass cases filled with beautiful glassware all arranged by color. It was like looking at a crystal rainbow. Most of the pieces in these cases were depression glass, Fenton glass, Cambridge glass and pieces from similar manufacturers. And the Fiesta Ware, oh my! Every color imaginable in every type of plate, bowl, cup and serving piece you could possibly want. I have been wanting to collect a few pieces of Fiesta Ware so I thought I would see what was available, unfortunately, everything was way out of my budget. Then I spied these, a mismatched pair of salt and pepper shakers!
The price was right, $7.95 each, I think they were so cheap because they were mismatched, one yellow and one PINK and also because they were missing the stopper in the bottom. The best part, when I got to the register, they took another 20% off. I already had this little wire basket and they fit in it perfectly.
A few days later my sister and I were driving around Amish country and spied this big ole barn with a hand painted sign out front that read "Antiques and Old Things". We decided to check it out. They had some wonderful old furniture at really great prices. Oh how I wished I had an SUV to bring home just one of those pieces. Instead I found these two little matching PINK glass dishes.
I "think" they are Fenton glass and I have no idea what their intended use was but I'm going to put a tea light or maybe a votive candle in them. The best part, they were only $5.00 each!
On the last day of our vacation we stopped in this wonderful little antique store. There was so much to look at and the prices were great. If you read my post earlier in the week, I found three beautiful vintage childrens' books in the same store. My biggest bargain from this store was this little miniature planter. I love this little Pink squirrel, it is so precious.
I can't imagine what you could possibly plant in it because it is only about four inches tall but at $5.00, I thought it was a steal. Here's a side view, isn't it sweet?
That's it for this PINK Saturday! Please stop by How Sweet the Sound and say HI to our host Miss Beverly!

Stop by the Noble Wife and pick up the free pattern for this really cute Jack o'Lantern Apron!
And a new blog to me, Gwenny Penny has a free printable mini "Welcome Fall Banner" and cupcake toppers!
Izzy & Ivy has this totally adorable Hedgehog applique pattern! Even if you don't have little ones, I think it would be adorable made of paper for cards and such!
And last but not least, DO NOT MISS (yes, I know I'm yelling but I wanted to make sure you were paying attention) THESE hand puppets from
Just Another Day In Paradise!
They are too sweet!

REDnesday!
As promised, I started scanning the pages in my "new" vintage childrens books and since it is REDnesday, I thought I would share two that have quite a bit of red in them. I had a teensy tiny problem though, the entire page would not fit on my scanner bed so I had to make two scans for each page. I'm also thinking I might need to reduce the resolution the next time I scan this book because the paper has a little bit of a texture and it distorts the pictures just a little. Anyway, here are two of the pages, I hope you enjoy them! xxoo Nan
You can right click on any of the images to bring up a larger image,

I'm Baaaaack!
I'm back! Did ya'll miss me? LOL! I missed all of my bloggy friends! I said I was taking a little break and that was true but actually I was on vacation, I even left the country for a couple of days. I didn't want to broadcast the fact I would be gone, you just never know who is lurking. It is going to take me forever to get caught up on all of your blogs. I hope ya'll haven't been too chatty.
Over the next couple of days I'm going to post a little travel log. I know it might be a little boring for you but I'm really doing it for myself. I want to have an actual record of what we did so I can look back on it in years to come. I will post pictures to go along with the log to keep it a little interesting.
I did lots of shopping and bought some really cute "PINK" things I will be sharing this Saturday! I also did a little antiquing and one of the things I bought were these books.
How cute are they?! I think I paid less than $20.00 for all three. Over the next few months I will be scanning the pages and sharing them with all of you because they are just too cute not too.
Look at these sweet baby animals!
And these sweet little children!
And this is my fav of the three books, the pictures are just so rich.
But THIS is the most prized possession I came home with!
When my parents passed away, my sister took all the old family pictures to her home. She has divided and distributed a very small portion of them between us but really, she hasn't even put a dent in them. We were looking for something else when she pulled this old photo album out of a box. I had never seen 95% of the pictures in this book because my grandmother gave them to my mom after I left home. The pictures above are all pictures of my Mom as a little girl. I am just overjoyed my sister let me take it with me as most of the pictures are one of a kind. I promised her I will remove them from this old nasty album, scan them, make a CD of all the pictures and divide the originals.
These pictures are of my sisters and me. I added arrows to ;point to yours truly.
Well, I'm off to get caught up on some of your blogs! TTFN, Nan
