My Aunt gave me this RED Rooster mug about thirty years ago. I don't know how it came into her possession, how old it is, or where it was made but I love it's quirkiness!
I love the shape of the mug, I think it is a little on the feminine side. Even the handle is more feminine!
but if you come closer and look inside......
You see, it is not for a woman at all, it is a mustache mug!
I could be wrong but I don't think it is very old, probably made in the 60's or 70's.
This is the mark found on the bottom of the mug, it says "Royal Crown". If anyone has any more info on this mug I would love to hear it!

I really like this mug. Such vivid colors. Wish I knew more about the marking on the bottom...

Beautiful mug :)
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny that it's a mustache mug. It is very handsome looking.
ReplyDeleteSuch an interesting mug! I wondered if it could have been an advertisement for a weathervane co. This is all I found: http://www.ioffer.com/i/Vintag-1960-s-19th-CENTURY-COCK-WEATHER-VANE-MUG-127795841
ReplyDeleteSays it's from the 1960s. I also looked at Replacements.com to see if there's a co. called Royal Crown - there are a couple, but didn't see anything that looked like it, although some had similar handles.
Much more fun searching than ironing, but better get back to that :)

p.s. If you find out more, please do share! Love mysteries!
A very different and unique rooster mug. I can see why you kept it. Not many around like that.
ReplyDeleteOh, I don't think a guy would have any trouble chugging from that mug! LOL

I’ve nothing to give but my heart and head;
No colors have I but yellow and red.
Please take what I give as tokens of peace:
And with these small gifts may your joy increase!

Hi Nan, With Halloween coming, I wanted to tell you I will be sending you another Scaredy Cat that isn't so wonky! Yours was my very craft room creation made, and I have learned so much about the construction now. I tried to remedy yours by adding glue to the bow tie, and it has bothered me all this time. You know I like things perfectly perfect - at least my crafts! So lovely to read this fun post! Elizabeth
ReplyDeleteGreat mug, I love the feminine appeal to it, much too girly for a mustache mug...
