So where have I been? A work in progress!

Happy THIRD Birthday Pink Saturday!!!!
Congratulations Beverly on THREE years of PINK inspiration!

If you are a regular reader to my blog, you know I've been a little AWOL for the last couple of weeks. So where have I been? I've fallen prey to that nasty slump bug that gets most of us sooner or later. I've been on the internet but I couldn't tell you what I've been reading because it certainly hasn't been any of your wonderful blogs. And Lord knows I've neglected my own blog, I even missed my own
FIRST blog-a-versary! I have had zippo motivation to do anything except watch the season finales of my favorite TV shows, oh, and work in my yard.

But two weeks ago I stumbled on a wonderful blog. This blog made my heart sing. This blog reached deep into my soul and pulled out a flood of childhood memories. Memories of holding my first real art materials in my little hands and the power to CREATE that I felt at such a young age! And for the first time in almost 6 months, I picked up my sketch pad and pencil and started sketching away and I have my first WIP (work in progress).
I will share my WIP with you in a second but first I wanted to introduce you to the blogger who has caused all this inspiration!
Please say hello to Joni at
I think I identified with Joni so much because my first creations were big eyed children and animals made with chalk pastels. If you visit Joni's site you will find lots of lots of color, including PINK

 Copyright Pop Art Minis

And now my own WIP, granted, the only PINK is the oil pastel and pencil laying near the sketch pad! Please be gentle as I know she has a loooong way to go and I don't usually have enough courage to show something as unfinished as this! I hope I can show the finished drawing next week!

Have a wonderful, safe Memorial Day weekend everyone! xxoo Nan

  2. Sounds like you might be experiencing a dose of depression. Get up and get with it. Life is too short to sit around watching TV.

  4. She's adorable! I have so much admiration for those with artistic skills. I've never been able to draw or sketch, (my art grades reflected this fact), so I'm always so impressed when I see an artist at work.
Can't wait to see her when she's done!

  5. Oh Nan Sweetie...
Happy Pink Saturday and what a share today.
She is gorgeous. I love her little face and her eyes just draw you right on in to her. Love the way you floated her hair about her, and look at her starfish necklace. Nan she is adorable. I Love her little fish friend as well. I can't wait to see her finished. I know she is going to be spectacular.

Isn't it wonderful when we find something that is such great therapy for us? I love to write. It makes me feel alive, as I am sure drawing does for you.

Have a wonderful weekend sweet friend. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

  8. She's going to be adora-bubble!!

I so admire the talent it takes to think a thought, draw a line around it, color it in, and present such a charming picture.

Happy Pink Saturday, and thank you SO much for dropping in at LAWN TEA!!

  10. Aw Nan....I know how you're feeling....everything's that's been goin on just gets to ya. At least you got to watch TV. With things goin on with Mom and Dad, I haven't done any embroidery let alone create anything for my website....my blog I'm afraid is getting boring to my Blogpal's and I pop in, but can't stay long enough to say hi......seems all I want to do when not helping them is lay down and stay there til they call for something.....sigh......
Can't wait to see your newest creation finished...she's too cute.

  22. This has by far been my favorite post of the day! I get my patriotism from my Dad too. He was a WWII vet, and he'd only put the flag up a couple of times a year, and he'd always take it down at sunset. I would cry! Definitely explains my love of Old Glory!
I go through slumps where I don't want to look at my blog, or anyone else's either. Only do it if it's fun, but please know that I always enjoy your posts!

  23. HI Nan,
What a wonderful drawing. I understand your anxiety about showing it at this stage. But it is truly a great drawing!

I don't think I ever got back to you about my little town of Naples NY. So sorry for the delay.

It isn't very near lake George but so similar.
Living among the the Finger Lakes is truly beautiful! Thank yo so much for your sweet comments and time.
Hope you have a wonderful new week as we enter the month of June,
    Great Big Gentle hugs, Blessings,
    Trudy
