First, a Mommas got to brag! Right now, at this very moment, my baby girl is singing at her very first performance in China at Tianjin University! If you missed what she is doing in China, please visit my post from Sunday.
My first RED, JOLLY share for today is my new bloggy look! Don't you love it! It was so easy to do, in fact, I'm amazed how easy it was. I got the design here, at Lee Lou's. She has the easiest directions to follow.
Next I wanted to share these JOLLY, RED, VINTAGE Salt and Pepper shakers.
My Mom bought these in the early 70's and as you can see from the worn off paint, they were used at every meal during Christmas. I love their little pudgy faces! The table cloth is also vintage and belonged to my mom.
And finally, a little tease! Two weeks ago I shared the little red truck and "vintage look" toy ornaments I bought and I finally decided what to do with them. I have one of those bump out garden windows in the kitchen and decided this would be the perfect spot for the little red truck with the tree in it's bed. Well, the whole idea has snowballed, literally and figuratively! I decided to transform the whole garden window into a mini store window from the 40's/50's, think of the scene from "A Christmas Story" when they are looking in the store window and he spies the Red Ryder BB Gun. I've got vintage toys, a little snow mountain, a knee hugger pixie, and a toy airplane suspended from above. I'm not quite finished but thought I'd share this little glimpse!
Have a wonderful day everyone!

ReplyDeleteNan,
ReplyDeleteI love this post. Your banner is really cute. The vintage goodies are wonderful. I'm also doing a vintage toy theme this year, but it's in front of my fireplace. Love that firetruck!
Wow, I love the jolly, red, vintage. There's no better way to decorate for Christmas. The salt and pepper shakers are so cute! Vintage trucks are a favorite of mine---see my website, my sis and I are having a truck decorating contest for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHappy Rednesday.
Ann
Enjoyed your Santa salt and pepper shakers. However, the little truck really caught my eye.
ReplyDeleteI love all of your vintage Christmas! The salt and pepper are so cute- I have seen the little mugs before but not these.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your dime store window!
Hope you are having fun decorating!

Everything looks so Christmasy. I love how you decorated your blog.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful! I have a Santa pitcher with 4 cups, but they are not in as good of shape as yours are. I love the car. My mom still regrets letting my brother's go.
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Kathy
Love your new look! The truck vignette is adorable as are the vintage salt and pepper shakers!

Hi Nan Thanks for sharing your X-mas spirit. For us a bit early as we first have Saint Nicholas'Eve on the 5th December. This has nothing to do with Christmas but everything with giving and receiving presents. He is not the same as Santa Claus. Christmas is celebrated on 25th and 26th December.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you went to the Efteling. That is a lovely place for young and old.
Nan,
ReplyDeleteOh! Oh! You have really got Christmas going on!!!!!! LOVE IT!!!!! I am sooo ready for this, aren't you????? Santa....we are ready!!!! :) Love ya! Sandy
Hi Nan!
ReplyDeleteYour new blog look is so much fun. I keep thinking I'll spruce mine up - have in fact intended to do so ever since day one but have never gotten around to it. So many choices and so little time. So mine has remained exactly the same. Woe is me.
I love this post, so charming! Oh my gosh, your window vignette is terrific, you are so clever and talented. You must smile every time you see it.
ARGH! I could kick myself - my mom had some santa mugs and I gave them away because the paint was literally flaking off in sheets and that creeped me out. Very poorly made. But they still would have been cute for decorations. WAH!
Happy Rednesday,
Sally
Nan! The store window is just perfect. What a fabulous idea. Now you will have to do one for Valentine's and Easter too. :) Now please tell me what to do with all the candy canes I bought at a church yard sale a couple of weeks ago. They are like 2 feet tall each and I have about 20 of them. Some red and white, some red and green stripe and they have that wonderful "been outside" weathered patina. I just put them on the front porch just laying against the chair but I need some over the top ideas. xoxox
ReplyDeleteI have a little Fire truck. Not vintage but has the look. Mine has greenery in it. I leave it out all year round. Love your blog. It's very festive!~Ames
ReplyDeleteI have the same identical salt and paper Santa shakers!!
ReplyDeletei bought them at a church flea market!!
