A Horse is a Horse, of Course of course!

Happy REDnesday everyone!
Well, I've been called back to the jury pool and have to report back at 1:00 this afternoon! The bad thing is, IF I get picked this time it could stretch into next week because there is no court tomorrow in Honor of Veterans day.
When I was a little girl I wanted a Horse or pony so badly but my parents never even remotely entertained the idea. So I had to live my Horsey dreams through books, TV shows and my collection of glass Horses. This is the first book I remember reading.

Oh how I loved this story. When I had my own little girls, I would read this story to them and they loved it too.

The beginning of the story broke my heart as you can see from the picture poor Little Black looks so dejected. But fear not, Little Black IS the Hero of the story and all ends well!
And here are a few more vintage Horse images.

These vintage illustrations have so much charm!

  3. Thank you for visiting and following my blog!

Wanting a horse brings back memories for me. My parents told me if I saved half of the money they would match it. I think they knew being young I didn't have the will power to save so they in turn came off not being the bad guys LOL

The book you posted it so sweet!

  5. There was no hope for me either getting a horse but my daughter was the same and we have 5 horses in the 60's and 70's. She lives on Kodiak now and would love a horse again there but not possible. Wonderful old book Nan.

  12. Nan,
Aren't the books of our childhood filled with such a magic that is able to transport us back to when we were young and hopeful. Happy and innocent. When every page turn took us on into a world where we could be anything or do anything.
Thanks for reminding me of that magic.
    Hugs- Tete

The reason I really stopped by (since I never seem to get to blog hop anymore) is to say Thank you for being such a caring friend to me. Your message telling me to bring on the prayer requests last week was so touching it made me cry. I don't know what I'd do right now with out the caring friends in blog land and I'm so please to know that you're my friend. If ever I can be there for you please don't hesitate to let me know.

With love and warm hugs....Tracy :)

P.S. Did you enter my contest? I can't seem to keep up with so much going on here. But here's the link if you'd like to:

  26. I think we must all have been horse crazy at one time - at about 12 years old. I never had a horse but I haunted a nearby stable and learned to ride - so many happy hours mucking around to earn a ride!
